ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you looking for a dynamic role that offers diverse responsibilities, fosters collaboration across multiple practice areas, and provides a unique opportunity to develop core government legal skills and expand your development—while being part of a fast-paced and supportive team environment?
Our Special Projects team is looking for a versatile and motivated senior lawyer. Existing experience in a number of the following areas will be viewed favourably: statutory interpretation, ICAC, SafeWork, public interest disclosure, privacy and GIPA, or other regulatory compliance. This is not essential where you can demonstrate an ability to proactively and rapidly acquire the required knowledge.

The role will:

• work closely with other senior lawyers as well as autonomously to guide legal strategy and policy;
• undertake administrative activities and research allocated within established standards, procedures, policies and delegations;
• assist with a wide range of civil, anti discrimination and commercial related requests for advice, as well as with claims, disputes and agreements for CSNSW;
• work closely with DCJ to review, prepare and negotiate a wide range of agreements and advise on a diverse range of matters;
• coordinate sensitive legal communications with precision, ensuring confidentiality and high standards of accuracy across all documentation;
• support the progression of briefing notes and related materials; and
• provide complex advice on CSNSW operations, including on regulatory and strategic matters.

The role offers a variety of work within a supportive and high achieving team environment. The role reports directly to the team’s Director, who is experienced and approachable. It will suit a passionate senior lawyer looking to learn and advance their career in the public service.
