We are seeking a dynamic and engaging Legal Operations Manager (Legal Project Management) to join our Australia team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in legal operations, matter optimisation and Legal Project Management, and who is committed to building their expertise and contributing to the firm’s strategic operational goals. About the role: Our Legal Operations (LPM) function enhances the client and lawyer experience by improving matter management, optimising processes, enhancing communication, reducing risk, and creating value in the delivery of legal work. The team also drives continuous improvement initiatives to help legal teams deliver work more efficiently, more profitably, and more consistently across the firm. The successful candidate will: Lead and support operational initiatives that enhance legal service delivery. Provide Legal Project Management support on selected matters, including scoping, planning, risk management, budgeting and reporting. Partner with senior stakeholders across the firm to identify opportunities for process improvement, data insights, and operational uplift. Contribute to the development, enhancement and implementation of legal operations tools, systems and best‑practice frameworks. Consider Legal Technology solutions where appropriate to our support our legal teams when collaborating with our clients. About you: Degree qualified in Law, Management, Finance or Business-related subject. At least 5 years post-degree experience in a law firm or other professional services firm. Candidates who are qualified lawyers with a proven track record of managing legal work, end to end. Comprehensive understanding of the legal process and typical work product in a law firm environment. Able to build relationships and influence all levels of seniority. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to summarise complex issues succinctly verbally and in writing and to liaise directly with clients and members of the Disputes and Transactions Practice Group. Strong analytical ability, coupled with sound judgement to balance multiple factors and solve complex problems. Demonstrated financial acumen and understanding of key financial performance indicators. Demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts to understand and communicate information. Strong foundational skills with the Microsoft 365 Suite: Experience with Excel. PowerPoint and Word essential. Strong IT literacy, including an aptitude for learning (and becoming proficient in the use of) new and innovative software and IT applications. Strong systems skill set and an ability to rapidly pick up new systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Empathy and situational awareness. High level of attention to detail with ability to simplify complex concepts to effectively communicate information. An organised and practical mindset with the ability to see the big picture. Excellent personal time management principles. Determination, resilience and persistence. Skilled at prioritising demanding workloads and working on projects as part of an international team. An innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies. Desirable experience: Degree or significant professional qualification in Law, Management, Finance or Business-related subject. Candidates who are legally qualified with a proven track record of managing legal work, end to end. Experience of using a Financial Practice Management System (e.g. Elite or Aderant Expert). Significant experience of using PowerBI and PowerAutomate tools for analysis and reporting. A strong understanding of law firm economics Experience working with a combination of legal technologies, for example, collaboration software; automation and AI.
