Responsibilities

THE ROLE|

We are currently seeking a dedicated, dynamic and highly organised legal secretary to become an integral part of our Melbourne General Insurance Team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a large team comprised of a number of partners, lawyers and clerks across a broad range of matters within our firm, providing essential and timely support to our legal professionals.

As one of two legal secretaries supporting the team, you will be responsible for managing a wide variety of tasks, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our legal processes. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Liaising with clients and staff
  • Diary management and travel booking
  • Arranging medico legal assessments and briefing of Counsel
  • Preparation of legal documents
  • Preparation of correspondence (emails, memos and letters)
  • Monthly billing
  • Managing all electronic documentation
  • Organising client and team events.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE|

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills across the Microsoft suite, in particular Word and Powerpoint and a working knowledge of Excel
  • Experience using document management and billing/time recording systems (such as FileSite, Expert or similar)
  • The ability to manage the workflow of multiple fee earners
  • Flexibility, adaptability and the ability to be proactive and work unsupervised
  • A positive attitude and team player approach, no matter what the task
  • Strong organisational and file management skills and initiative
