Working in an open and supportive environment, to deliver outstanding results.   Our people are our success, and we work as one team.   Purpose of the role This role will be assisting a visually impaired lawyer in the data protection team of an international law firm. Main Duties and Responsibilities: * Assisting in keeping the lawyer apprised of data protection developments in the news by means of weekly news updates including with respect to MEA and APAC regions  * Assisting with reading comparison documents and documents containing track changes * Reading aloud from a variety of sources, including letters, books, contracts, legislation * Proof reading documents and emails for typos and ensuring good quality output from a visual point of view * Organising/filing emails and searching for documents within emails and the Firm’s document management systems  * Taking notes on calls and in meetings * Assisting with legal research via use of internal and external electronic resources. For example, intranet sites, Practical Law (PLC) and the Information Commissioner’s Office website  * Assisting with any ad hoc administrative and personal tasks * Attending conferences, seminars and other events which may occasionally require overseas travel * Travel to other Pinsent Masons offices may be required, as appropriate * Candidate must be prepared to be flexible and work from the office as requested (typically 2-3 times a week, but subject to change) Candidate Overview We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:  * Excellent Information Technology skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Excellent attention to detail, grammar and punctuation * A degree in Law, studied Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)  * Desirable - Experience of a legal role (for example, as a paralegal) * Desirable - Legal Practice Course (LPC) * Flexible and able to manage frequent and sometimes last-minute changes in own workload and diary  * Highly collaborative, emotionally intelligent and empathetic  * Proficient in using legal research resources * Responsible and adaptable, someone who takes sound initiative and pride in their work output  * Able to prioritise and work to strict deadlines What happens next?  Once your application has been submitted and reviewed, our Recruitment team will share the outcome with you by email.  We typically hold two interview stages per vacancy providing the opportunity to meet two members of the hiring team at each stage.
