Young Engineers Melbourne South is hiring!
We are currently seeking applications for teachers of all ages and experience levels to join our team of science educators working in schools in the Southern Suburbs of Melbourne. We are looking for candidates to work between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm on weekdays to teach classes and support operations and class management.

About The Classes:

  • Afterschool classes in different schools in St Kilda, Brighton, Toorak, South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, Elwood
  • Children build and code Lego machines and robots

The role:

  • Do in-class teaching
  • Manage and maintain equipment
  • Build relationships with schools and students
  • Casual - 4 - 15 hours a week

Requirements (Compulsory):

  • Covid Vaccine certification
  • Working With Children Check (Employee) or willingness to obtain one
  • Willing to commute to Port Melbourne and school locations

Requirements (Preferred)

  • Completed Year 12 (VCE or equivalent) from Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA or similar.
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring children
  • Access to own car and valid driving license

Skills we are looking for:

  • Good visual-spatial skills and enjoys Lego building.
  • Very engaging and good conversationalist - especially with children. Must love working with children.
  • Dependable and Reliable
  • Organized & extremely punctual
  • Extremely detail-oriented and diligent personality
  • Willingness to follow procedures diligently.
  • Good oral communication skills and Confident public speaker (eg, debate team experience)
  • Willingness to perform manual tasks including setting up the venue, carrying the kits and pack up afterwards
  • Self-driven and self-motivated
  • Long-term commitment preferred. (Minimum 6 months)
