We have a fantastic opportunity for a part time Leisure Attendant to join our leisure team here at Mercure Barnsley Tankersley Manor Hotel & Spa. As a hotel we are committed to providing exceptional service and unforgettable experiences to our guests. We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Leisure Attendant. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our leisure facilities, including the gym, pool, sauna, and other amenities. Your primary goal will be to provide outstanding service to our guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction during their stay.
The ideal candidate would demonstrate that they are welcoming and confident, we’re looking for someone who would be able to talk to members and spa guests with ease during their visits to the health club and spa. They should also aim to display a pro-active work ethic and understand what tasks are required to drive membership sales, ensure membership retention and keep on top of membership administration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
  • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a clean and organized environment
  • A valid certification in Pool Responder and/or Lifeguard is mandatory
  • A qualification in Level 2 Fitness Instructor, qualification in Level 3 Personal Trainer, pool plant training certification and first aid certification would be preferred, however not essential
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
    Hours: Contracted 16 hours per week - includes early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Daily:

  • Front of house duties; including responding to membership enquiries, booking spa day packages and speaking to clients
  • Pool/Water testing and treatment
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the department and all equipment
  • Be able to follow NOP/EAP/PSOP
  • Driving membership sales and member retention
  • Supervise the use of poolside facilities and ensure the safe use of said facilities
  • Deep cleaning of poolside, wet facilities, changing rooms, reception and gym
  • Gym assistance (inductions and personalised programmes)
  • Membership enquiry calls and administration calls

Occasional:

  • Deeper cleaning of poolside, wet facilities, changing rooms, reception and gym
  • Stocktaking
  • Member event night hosting
