Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Leisure Maintenance Officer role is responsible for ensuring that all pool and dry plant within Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC), Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool (CMSP) and Booran Reserve are operating efficiently and effectively. The Leisure Maintenance Officers keep our leisure facilities sparkling clean, hygienic and safe so that every visitor can enjoy a great experience. Whether it’s making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes or taking pride in maintaining high standards, you’ll be a valued part of a supportive and energetic team that takes pride in what we do.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • To actively monitor pool plant, water chemistry, air handling, and other facility operational systems to ensure continuous service provision for customers.
  • To provide support to the Leisure Maintenance Team Leader in maintaining facility operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide shift reports and complete checklists or inspections for a range of duties.
  • Supervise and oversee contractors when required as delegated from Leisure Maintenance Team Leader.
  • Complete daily plantroom tasks and checks including, but not limited to backwashing, chemical dosing, calibrating, strainer baskets, and adjusting of pool plant and associated equipment.
  • Perform specialist chemical treatment processes such as super chlorination, pool filling, draining, and relevant management of each process.
  • Perform checks and troubleshooting for HVAC, BMS and various other facility dependent systems.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Experience and technical knowledge of the principles and best practices involved in maintaining and operating swimming pools, stadiums and other leisure facilities.
  • Experience in pool and spa systems, including water chemistry, purification processes, filtration systems and heating operations.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance, including the OHS Act 2004, Royal Life Saving Society Australia (RLSSA) guidelines, and legislation related to chemical handling, hazardous substances, and dangerous goods.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess issues and implement effective solutions to keep facilities running smoothly and safely.
