The Summit Area YMCA is seeking an experienced and energetic Les Mills Instructor to teach engaging group fitness classes and help take our wellness programs to the next level. The Instructor leads classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and connection, in alignment with YMCA policies and standards. This part-time position offers the opportunity to teach multiple classes per week at both our Summit and Berkeley Heights branches. Shifts are currently available at the Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights on weekday evenings (6pm - 8pm) or weekday/ weekend mornings (7am-12pm). You May be the Right Candidate if You: Thrive in leading and engaging groups of people Can create and maintain a sense of community Have a passion for fitness and motivating others Enjoy helping members reach their goals Bring positive energy and professionalism to every class Key Responsibilities: Plan and lead safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes Deliver Les Mills choreography as specified for assigned formats Introduce yourself and review safety reminders before each class Guide participants through appropriate warm-up and cool-down segments Provide clear cueing, coaching, and movement modifications Use appropriate music and pacing for the program Apply sound knowledge of biomechanics and exercise physiology Begin and end classes on time Communicate planned absences or substitutions in advance Report equipment or maintenance concerns promptly Follow all YMCA fitness and association policies and procedures Attend required meetings and trainings as scheduled Salary & Benefits: Compensation range for this role is $28.00 - 45.00/hour, based on education & experience. This Part Time position is scheduled to work up to 25 hours per week. Shifts are currently available at the Summit YMCA and Berkeley Heights on weekday evenings (6pm - 8pm) or weekday/ weekend mornings (7am-12pm). Requirements Qualifications: Current group exercise certification from ACSM, NETA, ACE, ISSA, AFAA Active standing in Les Mills connect required. Current CPR/AED certification Good communication skills Be knowledgeable about health & fitness field including current trends and safety issues. Responsibilities
The Les Mills Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes. They deliver Les Mills choreography, guide participants through warm-up and cool-down segments, and ensure a positive environment that promotes member wellness.
