DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a confident, compassionate, and highly self-motivated individual who values autonomy while upholding our TRUST company values.
As a Lesion Photo Practitioner, you will work independently across dermatology clinics to assess and photograph patients referred with skin lesions. You will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality dermatology care by capturing clinical images which will be remotely reviewed by a Consultant Dermatologist.
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working without constant supervision, is able to manage their own clinical caseload, and takes pride in delivering a smooth and respectful patient experience.

PATIENT EXPERIENCE

  • Provide a calm and professional presence, ensuring patients feel comfortable throughout the appointment.
  • Act as the sole point of clinical contact during the visit, answering queries where appropriate and escalating only when necessary.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and confidential environment for every patient.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent qualifications
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting (Band 2 or Band 3 HCA or equivalent)
  • Willingness to undertake dermatology and clinical photography training

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 6 months of recent UK healthcare experience in a patient-facing role
  • Confident working alone in a clinical setting with minimal supervision
  • Experience with digital systems and patient data entry (e.g., SystmOne, ICE)
  • Prior clinical photography experience is desirable but full training will be provided

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Excellent attention to detail with ability to follow precise clinical protocols
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working independently with patients
  • Empathetic, respectful, and professional approach at all times
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality, consent procedures, and data protection regulations
  • Minimum GCSE or equivalent qualifications
  • Previous Band 2 or Band 3 Healthcare Assistant experience

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 6-month experience in the last 2 years in the UK, as an HCA
  • Hands on interaction with patients in a healthcare setting
  • Exposure to supervising or supporting junior staff (formal or informal) is advantageous

KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL ABILITY

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Good time management, particularly under pressure or in busy clinic environments
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and ensure excellent patient care
  • Empathetic and respectful approach to patients, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, demonstrating a proactive approach to problem-solving and escalation
This role may require regular travel between DMC sites. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a Lesion Photo Practitioner, you will see patients independently in community-based dermatology clinics. Your primary responsibility will be to review referral information, explain the photographic process to the patient, obtain informed consent, and capture high-quality, standardised clinical photographs of skin lesions. These images will be uploaded to clinical systems where they will be remotely reviewed by a Consultant Dermatologist, who will provide the diagnosis and management plan.
You will be the main clinical point of contact for the patient during their appointment and will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation and imagery are accurate, secure, and compliant with clinical governance standards.
