​​Looking for Philippines-based candidates Job Role: Level 2 System Engineer Compensation range: $1,200 - $2,000 AUD/month Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time. Who The Client Is: The client is an established Australian Managed IT Services provider delivering end-to-end technology solutions to businesses across various industries, including healthcare, education, retail, and professional services. They specialise in providing managed IT support, cloud services, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, and helpdesk solutions, with a strong focus on delivering reliable, proactive, and tailored technology support that helps clients improve efficiency, security, and overall business performance. Role Overview: A Level 2 System Engineer is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving escalated IT issues across hardware and software systems, ensuring timely resolution and minimal downtime. The role involves managing support tickets end-to-end, communicating with clients, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors when needed. It also includes supporting system migrations and implementations, managing multiple priorities, documenting technical solutions, and delivering high-quality customer service, including night shift coverage as required. Key Responsibilities: Advanced Support & Escalations Handle escalated tickets from L1 engineers Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues Provide root cause analysis and long-term solutions Ensure minimal downtime and rapid resolution Server & Infrastructure Management Install, configure, and maintain: Windows Servers Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Virtual environments (VMware / Hyper-V) Manage: Storage systems (SAN / NAS) High-availability systems and clusters Cloud & Microsoft Ecosystem Administer: Microsoft 365 & Azure environments Identity and access management Support cloud migrations and hybrid environments Configure cloud-based services (Azure / AWS) Networking & Security Configure and manage: Firewalls (Sophos) VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching Monitor and manage: Network performance and traffic Security threats and vulnerabilities Conduct: Security audits Penetration testing and vulnerability scans Implement network segmentation and security policies Monitoring, Performance & Optimization Monitor systems using RMM tools Analyze logs, alerts, and performance metrics Perform system tuning and optimization Ensure uptime, capacity planning, and reliability Backup, DR & Business Continuity Manage: Backup systems (Veeam / Datto) Disaster recovery solutions Develop and maintain: DR and business continuity plans Perform testing and validation of recovery processes Projects & Implementations Lead and support: System upgrades and migrations Infrastructure deployments Network implementations Install and configure: Servers, applications, databases, web services Load balancers, SSL certificates, and security tools Documentation & Governance Maintain detailed documentation (IT Portal) Develop: IT policies Security procedures Network diagrams and system documentation Ensure compliance with internal and client policies Leadership & Internal Contribution Mentor L1 engineers Assist in training and knowledge sharing Improve processes and service delivery Participate in on-call and after-hours support Minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science or related technology Minimum of 4 years of relevant IT support or systems engineering experience Successfully completed at least 25 technical projects (implementation, migration, or support-related) Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English is a must. Focused and process drive window professional service experience Experience with an office setting it up & involved with migration projects Agreed to work on the night shift Certifications: Sophos Architect Certified MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Veeam Certified Engineer Technical Expertise: Windows Server Office 365 (Setup & migrations) Exchange SCCM Active Directory Management Tools Legal application experience Filesite, BigHand, Carpe Diem or Elite Networking (configuring firewalls/ routers/switches) Remote support (VPN, RDS) Virtualisation (VMware) Work Arrangement & Expectations: This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
