Description
At Bespoke Pixel, we're all about creating something extraordinary. We’re a small, fully funded, independent studio working on a well-known IP, and we’re pushing boundaries when it comes to gameplay and quality. Our experienced team is a blend of creativity and technical brilliance—and now, we’re looking for an Environment Artist to join the team and help shape our world. THE ROLE AND WHAT YOU WILL DO We are looking for a creative and technical Level Designer to join our team. In this role, you won’t just be placing assets—you will be the architect of the player’s experience. Your goal is to take our core gameplay mechanics and build the ultimate playground for them to shine in. You will bridge the gap between abstract gameplay systems and tangible, immersive worlds, ensuring every corridor, arena, and open vista serves a distinct gameplay purpose. From Blockout to Brilliance: Take ownership of the level creation pipeline in Unreal Engine 5. You will prototype, block out, and refine levels that are as fun to play as they are beautiful to look at. Mechanics-First Layouts: Build environments that specifically highlight our unique gameplay features. You understand how to use verticality, cover, and sightlines to make the combat and movement loops feel incredible. Mastery of Flow: Use a diligent, metric-driven approach to control the pacing. You will craft difficulty curves and player guidance that feel intuitive, ensuring the player is always exactly where they need to be. Systemic Consistency: Move beyond one-off layouts. You will implement spatial rules and design solutions that work consistently across the entire game world, creating a cohesive experience. Collaborative Iteration: act as the "first player." You will test mechanics in your levels and provide crucial feedback to the Game Designer on how systems feel in a real environment. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Experience: 2–4 years of professional experience in Level Design (Unreal Engine 5 preferred). Gameplay Fluency: While you focus on the "where," you deeply understand the "why." You have a strong grasp of pacing, combat encounters, and player psychology. Technical & Artistic Balance: You possess a solid understanding of architecture, composition, and open-world building, but you also know how to work within technical budgets and constraints. Data-Informed Creativity: You don’t just guess; you build based on established metrics and refine your work based on play-testing data. The "Hacker" Mindset: Do you have a background in modding? We love that. We value the ability to deconstruct games and find creative ways to make things work. Communication: You can clearly articulate why a space works (or doesn't) to artists, engineers, and designers. WHY JOIN US? This isn't a role where you’ll be a cog in a machine. This is an opportunity to be a key decision-maker in a small, tight-knit team where your impact is visible and valued every day. We believe that great work is done by happy people. Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with your expertise and the market. Work-Life Balance: Enjoy 5 weeks of paid vacation. We believe in building a healthy, sustainable studio culture. Relocation & Barcelona Life: Our beautiful office is located in central Barcelona, complete with a rooftop terrace, a gym, and a fantastic community. We are ready to help with relocation for the right candidate. Comprehensive Benefits: We provide free private health insurance, a €100 monthly stipend for meals and transportation, and a yearly allowance for professional development. Team & Culture: We are a team of talented people who love what they do and support each other. You can look forward to regular team events and after-work hangouts. READY TO APPLY? Send your portfolio, as well as your CV and cover letter in English. We review applications continuously, so don’t wait! Bespoke Pixel is an equal-opportunity employer. Everyone’s welcome. Let’s build something amazing together!
