Responsibilities

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of customer server
environments, including break/fix and patch management. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the stability
of customer systems by implementing and managing effective patch management strategies. As part of a
growing team of system administrators and engineers, the Systems Administrator will facilitate the patch and
server management services offered by the organization. This position works closely with the Digital Operations
Centre (DOC) and Service Delivery Managers to meet SLA requirements and deliver excellent customer service.
The role requires advanced experience in systems administration, vulnerability management, and the use of
applicable patching tools. Expertise in VMware, Nutanix, Infoblox, and Veeam is also essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patch Management
  • Develop and implement comprehensive patch management policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and execute regular patch deployments across various operating systems (Windows, Linux,etc.) and applications.
  • Utilize and manage patch management tools (e.g., Manage Engine, WSUS, SCCM, third-partysolutions).
  • Test and validate patches in a controlled environment before deploying to production systems.
  • Monitor patch deployment status, troubleshoot installation issues, and remediate any deploymentfailures.
  • Generate and maintain accurate patch deployment records and reports.
  • Server Administration
  • Perform routine server maintenance tasks, including backups, performance monitoring, and resourceoptimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues, including hardware, software, and networkconnectivity problems.
  • Monitor server performance and proactively address potential issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server software and applications.
  • Provide technical support to end-users on server-related issues.
  • Security
  • Implement and maintain security best practices for server environments, including access control,vulnerability scanning, and intrusion detection.
  • Stay informed about emerging security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in incident response activities related to server security breaches.
  • Documentation
  • Accept, troubleshoot, update, and close tickets assigned.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshootingsteps.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles for common server issues and established supportpractices.
