SUMMARY OF DUTIES: * Responsible for fabrication and testing of digital and analog circuits, electronics assemblies and subassemblies. Fabrication duties require proficiency with circuit plotters, soldering irons/stations, manual hand tools, test equipment such as network analyzers, signal generators, and DMMs, and skill in installation of surface mount technology components, including microminiature integrated circuits. The Level II technician must also possess the ability to apply conductive and nonconductive coatings and platings to circuit boards and enclosures without supervision. The technician shall be capable of more advanced troubleshooting and repair of circuits and devices, should be able to identify both surface mount and thru-hole components, should be familiar reading schematics and board layouts, and wiring diagrams. * The Level II technician shall also be proficient with manually machine shop tools such as a lathe, bridgeport machining center, etc., and should thus be able to read and interpret mechanical drawings. * Duties also include set up and programming of fabrication and testing assets.  * Performs a variety of tasks with increased latitude, and uses creativity where applicable. Works under minimal supervision, with jobs assigned by supervisor. * Reports to a technician supervisor or manager. * The duties listed above are intended only as a general illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. SCOPE OF POSITION: REPORTS TO:  TECHNICIAN SUPERVISOR. SUPERVISES:  NONE SIGNATURE AUTHORITIES: NONE. LEVEL OF INTERACTION: REQUIRES A HIGH LEVEL OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL FABRICATION AND TESTING SKILLS.  MUST BE CAPABILITY OF WORKING IN UNISON WITH THE ENGINEERING STAFF.  WILL BE REQUIRED TO TEST RF AND DIGITAL CIRCUITS, FABRICATE RF AND DIGITAL CIRCUITS, AND WORK AND ASSISTS JUNIOR AND SENIOR LEVEL ENGINEERING STAFF MEMBERS. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   * EDUCATION: ASSOCIATE’S DEGREE FROM AN ACCREDITED TWO-YEAR COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY PROGRAM IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY, OR ELECTRO-MECHANICAL TECHNOLOGY.  (EQUIVALENT TRAINING IN THE MILITARY AND/OR 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR AN ASSOCIATES DEGREE).   * EXPERIENCE: THREE TO FIVE (3-5) YEARS IN THE FABRICATION AND TESTING OF RF AND/OR DIGITAL CIRCUITS.  (EXPERIENCE MAY INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONAL AND OTHER SUPERVISED EXPERIENCE SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE SKILLS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES).  ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: ABILITY TO FABRICATE AND TEST RF, ANALOG AND DIGITAL CIRCUITS.  EXPERIENCE WITH CAD (COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN).  VARIOUS PC SKILLS INCLUDING KNOWLEDGE OF THE MICROSOFT OFFICE PROFESSIONAL SUITE. WILL BE SUBJECT TO A GOVERNMENT SECURITY INVESTIGATION AND MUST MEET ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESS TO CLASSIFIED INFORMATION. GOOD COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS. PHYSICAL AND/OR MEDICAL DEMANDS: NONE.
