As part of our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced LGV Class 1 Driver to join our team based at our Wilts Depot.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Practical experience in the operation of LGVs, plant hire, or plant maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a similar driving or logistics role is advantageous.
  • Skills:
  • Strong understanding of vehicle operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Qualifications:
  • Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) Driver Training card.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card for LGV driving.
  • CSCS Health and Safety Site Visitor card.
  • Full, clean driving license (category C+E).
  • Desirable:
  • Knowledge of plant hire and/or plant maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with current transport regulations and safety legislation

Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Operation & Safety:
  • Safely operate all assigned road vehicles and plant in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Ensure vehicles are well-maintained and report any defects promptly to prevent unsafe operation.
  • Use all protective equipment and safety devices as required, ensuring the safety of both personnel and the public.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Adhere to all relevant safety standards, legal requirements, and company policies, including compliance with the Working Time Directive, tachograph regulations, and other transport legislation.
  • Maintain accurate driving records, including digital tachograph data, daily vehicle checks, and hours of operation.
  • Customer Service & Communication:
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, site staff, and colleagues regarding delivery schedules, collections, and any potential delays.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to site operations when accessing delivery points, liaising with site personnel to facilitate smooth entry and exit.
  • Health, Safety & Environment:
  • Participate in regular safety training and meetings to ensure up-to-date knowledge of company policies and best practices.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, or conditions in accordance with the company’s health and safety procedures.
  • Assist in promoting a safety-first culture and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in safety, quality, and environmental performance.
  • Maintenance & Vehicle Care:
  • Take responsibility for the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the vehicle, ensuring it is fit for purpose before every shift.
  • Immediately report any faults or maintenance issues to the depot, ensuring vehicles are not used if unsafe or defective.
  • Manage and care for all personal protective equipment (PPE) issued by the company, reporting any damage or loss promptly.
  • Training & Development:
  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and safety briefings as required by the company.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and maintain a high level of competence in all areas of the role.
