Job Description 1. Teaching & Learning Responsibilities Partner with classroom teachers across all classes to integrate library resources into the Units of Inquiry (UOI). Teach students how to navigate both print and digital media, focusing on research skills and critical thinking. Conduct engaging read-aloud sessions and literature circles that provoke curiosity and reflect the diverse cultures within our school. Empower student agency by involving them in book selection and the organization of library spaces. Model and teach the ethical use of technology and online safety to our young learners. 2. Teamwork & Collaborative Responsibilities Attend weekly grade-level planning meetings to ensure the library collection stays synchronized with upcoming central ideas and lines of inquiry. Lead workshops or "book talks" for staff to introduce new pedagogical resources or children’s literature trends. Spearhead whole-school literacy initiatives, including Book Week and author visits. Engage with the parent community through newsletters or workshops on how to support literacy and the love of reading at home on the Parent App. 3. Administrative & Management Duties Curate, purchase, and catalog a diverse, inclusive collection of high-quality fiction and non-fiction that supports the PYP curriculum. Oversee the library management system (e.g., Follett Destiny or similar), including the checking in/out of materials and annual inventory. Manage the annual library budget efficiently, ensuring a balance between physical books, digital subscriptions, and learning provocations. Maintain an inviting, organized, and aesthetically pleasing "Atelier of Literacy" that encourages independent exploration. Qualifications: A Diploma in Education or Library Science. Previous experience in an IB PYP school is highly desirable. Proficiency with library management software and digital educational platforms. A passionate advocate for international-mindedness, a collaborative spirit, and a deep understanding of early childhood development.
