Ramona Convent Secondary School, located in Alhambra, California, is accepting resumes for Library Assistant. The Library Assistant seeks to support the school mission to help all students think critically, communicate effectively, and act responsibly. The Library Assistant collaborates with the Director of Library Services on student engagement, maintaining the library as a resource hub, circulating items to students and staff, and managing the library space. Hours are 7:00 am-3:30 pm OR 9:30 AM- 6 PM. (Times will vary depending on candidate availability)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree preferred
  • Have a passion for books and reading
  • Experience working in an educational institution is preferred
  • A positive disposition and a willingness to help students and staff
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and internet use. Must demonstrate basic telephone skills.
  • Knowledge of library organization and circulation practice is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Processes, catalogs, and circulates books and other print and non-print library materials
  • Performs clerical and technical duties involved with the acquisition and technical processing of materials and equipment;
  • Assists users with minor equipment problems (to include computer and printer problems);
  • Re-shelves materials and helps train and supervise volunteers performing this task;
  • Organize and maintain books, periodicals, and reference materials.
  • Provides room supervision and management to ensure a safe learning environment for students
  • Check for damaged library materials, such as books and provide replacements or make repairs.
  • Assists students and staff in locating library materials
  • Sort and deliver library mail and packages.
  • Prepares materials for displays and special events
  • Keeps student records, circulation stats, and demographics confidential.
  • Prepare materials and library space for the administration of A.P. testing
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the director.
  • Supervise Dual Enrollment Students and Independent Study Students
