The Library Associate for Acquisitions & Electronic Resources assists the Electronic Resources and Discovery Librarian with all aspects of the management of electronic resources including maintaining e-resources in Alma; trouble-shooting database access problems; maintaining access to e-journals and databases; compiling database and electronic resources usage statistics; and supervising all work and procedures related to e-resources management. The Library Associate for Acquisitions & Electronic Resources performs an essential task in acquisitions auditing, including the entering of invoices created by two department ProCard holders, receiving materials in Alma, and reconciling records to ensure all items, both physical and electronic, have been received. Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Responsibilities and Duties

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the E-Resources and Discovery Librarian to activate new e-resources in discovery interfaces.

  • Regularly review e-resources for access and coverage.

  • Trouble-shoot access and other issues reported by students, staff and faculty, such as platform changes and catalog and database downtime.

  • Communicate regularly with vendors; Consortial Library Applications Support (CLAS) at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP) Libraries and Towson University faculty and library staff regarding access to e-resources.

  • Explain e-resources arrangement in catalog or web page to groups, such as Research & Instruction Librarians; answer questions about e-resources from faculty, students and staff.

  • Research and provide information on perpetual access for e-journals as an aid to collection, renewal, and format change decisions.

  • Complete database clean-up assignments at the direction of the E-Resources Librarian.
