SALARY: $42,129.00 Annually  OPENING DATE: 1/15/2026 CLOSING DATE: 1/29/2026 11:59 p.m.  UNIT: AFSCME- Grade Level 5 DEPARTMENT: Library and Tutoring Services REPORTS TO: Director, Library and Tutoring Services PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serves as first point of contact for students, colleagues, and all other library patrons regarding library, tutoring, and general campus information. Refers research and tutoring questions to the appropriate staff.  2. Assists patrons with accessing the College's academic resources including print materials, e-books, course reserves, and technology. 3. Performs operational tasks, including but not limited to the opening/closing the Library or Learning Resource Center, student check-ins, circulation of resources and study rooms, stack maintenance projects, preparing signage and assisting with on-site events. 4. Resolves fine payments using the College's enterprise resource planning system. 5. Performs technical services and clerical tasks in areas such as acquisitions, cataloging and document delivery using an integrated library system (ILS) and other related library software systems. 6. Assists with assessment efforts including tracking and compiling data for reports using spreadsheets or survey tools, and providing feedback on materials, as needed. 7. Schedules students for tutoring using the tutoring management system and assist with updating the Leaning Center's content management system pages. 8. Creates digital library records using institutional repository software and scanning technologies. 9. Assists with training and directing student workers, as needed. 10. Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or equivalent * Five (5) years’ related customer service work experience * Two (2) years’ experience directing or assisting students in a lab or library environment at the College level * Experience with computer and productivity software, and student information or library systems   PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Ability to deal effectively and positively in a fast-paced and diverse service environment * Ability to perform a variety of simultaneous job tasks   SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: SCHEDULE:          35 Hours per week within the Library's hours of operation                                 Monday – Thursday, 11:15 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. Friday 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. RETIREMENT:     Pension Eligible Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
