What You'll Do: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Publisher Liaison: Acts as the primary contact with publishers for acquisitions, special orders, book requests, subscriptions, claims, returns, cancellations, credits, refunds, all aspects of cancellation of titles including staff notification and amending of online library catalog records; and customer relations. Finance: Processes all library invoices for prompt payment; checks invoices against online library catalog to ensure proper billing of subscriptions. Processing and Distribution: Assists in the acquisition of new titles and ensures proper receipt of materials ordered; processes and updates materials for both the collection and Court distribution, including advance sheets, updates, continuations, and replacements; updates and maintains all distribution lists for books sent to offices outside the library. Collection Maintenance: Shelves library materials, maintains the physical collection, performs shelf reading, and shifts materials as needed. Files updates to legal materials, including pocket parts, loose-leaf pages, and supplements, ensuring that current documents are readily available. Finds updates for broken links for online materials. Circulation Desk Operations: Executes the functions of the Circulation desk, including answering and routing phone calls, keeping statistics, greeting patrons, checking books in and out, and communicating policies and procedures. Professional Networking: Participates in networking and attends meetings with library or court staff from other organizations at local, regional, or national levels. STAFF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities. What we’re looking for… QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Requires a Bachelor’s degree or five years of experience working in a library and demonstrated knowledge of library procedures. COMPETENCIES Library Skills: Understanding of the Library of Congress classification system and experience with Integrated Library Systems like Sirsi, are preferred. Communication Skills: Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively either verbally or in writing. Microsoft Office: Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications. Attention to Detail: Ability to be efficient, organized, and exhibit a high level of attention to detail to create a work product with a minimum number of errors. Customer Service: Works with customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations. Judgment: Ability to make sound decisions based on evaluating information. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including but not limited to computers and phones. The employee may be required to move about the office and building. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to communicate and exchange information, including but not limited to research and writing. COURT EXPECTATIONS OF EMPLOYEE Employees may be regularly exposed to sensitive information and the employee is expected to keep any such information strictly confidential.
