Position Overview The Teacher Librarian fosters a love of reading and inquiry in our students, inspiring them to be curious, engaged, and confident learners. The role involves teaching library skills, conducting research, delivering literacy lessons, supporting individual and small-group learners, and creating a stimulating learning environment that enhances student learning across the curriculum. The library is a vibrant hub of learning, reflecting both international perspectives and Thai language, culture, and heritage. Key Responsibilities Teaching and Learning Plan and deliver engaging library lessons to N1–Grade 5 students, supporting literacy, inquiry-based learning, and research skills. Conduct storytelling, reading workshops, and interactive activities to foster a love of reading. Support students’ English language development, particularly for EAL learners, while providing resources and support in Thai where appropriate. Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate library resources and skills into units of learning across all subjects. Guide students in using print, digital, and Thai-language resources effectively and responsibly. Use technology and digital platforms to enhance student learning and research skills. Curriculum Integration Support literacy, inquiry, and research learning across the curriculum, aligned with IPC and inquiry-based learning approaches. Maintain book lists, reading resources, and digital content representing international and Thai literature, culture, and perspectives. Encourage students to explore Thai literature, folklore, and cultural traditions alongside global texts. Library Environment and Resources Maintain a welcoming, safe, and stimulating library space that reflects both international and Thai cultural contexts. Select, organise, and maintain a diverse collection of books, multimedia, and digital resources in English and Thai. Support class visits, library inductions, and student-led inquiry projects. Organise author visits, cultural literacy events, book weeks, and other school-wide literacy initiatives. Assessment and Reporting Monitor and assess student progress in literacy, research, and inquiry skills. Maintain accurate records of student learning and library engagement. Communicate student progress and reading, including guidance for parents. Student Support Promote positive behaviour, a safe learning environment, and inclusive practices. Encourage students to engage confidently and independently in reading, research, and inquiry activities. Support students’ social, emotional, and academic development through library-based learning experiences. Professional Development and Collaboration Stay current with developments in library practice, literacy, and inquiry-based learning. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library learning into classroom practice. Contribute to school-wide literacy initiatives, co-curricular activities, and Thai cultural events. Qualifications and Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Library & Information Science, English, or related field. Experience teaching in Early Years and/or Primary settings. Familiarity with inquiry-based learning, IPC, or concept-based curricula. Experience supporting EAL students or students with additional learning needs. Strong classroom management and organisational skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, and ICT skills. Experience developing school-wide literacy programs. Commitment to high standards of student learning and holistic development. Knowledge of the Thai curriculum, language and cultural traditions to integrate into the library programme. Experience working in an International School in Thailand or Southeast Asia is beneficial.
