We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Learning Support Teacher to join our dedicated Junior School team, commencing in Semester 2 on a part-time basis with the potential for full-time for the right candidate.
The Library Technician supports the daily operations of the Junior School library by assisting in the management of resources across K-3 and Junior School Libraries, providing customer service, and ensuring efficient access to library materials.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Positive Working with Children’ Check or ability to obtain.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Library and Information Services or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience in a Junior School library setting is desirable.
  • Physical ability to lift and move books and other library materials.
    All Canterbury staff are expected to support the school’s Anglican ethos and values.
Responsibilities
  • Manage circulation of library resources, including issuing, returns, overdue notices, and lost book invoicing.
  • Catalogue, classify, and process library materials following standard bibliographic formats
  • Prepare items for circulation, including branding, labelling, and book covering.
  • Maintain accurate records of usage, inventory, and circulation statistics.
  • Coordinate book hire processes, including accessioning, cataloguing, and stocktaking.
  • Conduct stock rotation, weeding, repairs, and manage library supplies.
  • Provide front-line support for patron queries, database searches, and device loans in the Junior School.
  • Oversee the organisation and daily maintenance of the library space.
  • Support parent volunteers and manage communications for Book Club and Book Fair events.
  • Facilitate access to information resources through well-structured systems for organising, retrieving, and circulating materials.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks and duties as required by library leadership.
