Description

Adecco is currently recruiting for a full-time Library Technician for a 5-month contract with our Public Sector Client in Toronto. The successful candidate must hold a valid Enhanced level Security clearance. The opportunity is on-site for the duration of the contract.

THE LIBRARY TECHNICIAN MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a Master of Library or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited program
  • Successful completion of at least two (2) years of approved post-secondary school training in library science or some other specialty relevant to the position.
  • Recent* experience in circulating library material using one of the following major integrated library systems: SYMPHONY, HORIZON, Innovative Interfaces, or Ex Libris.
  • Recent is defined as a minimum of six (6) continuous months’ work in a library within the last three (3) years.

EXPERIENCE - DESIRABLE

  • Experience in serials control using the SYMPHONY integrated library system
  • Experience in using the Circulation system of the SYMPHONY integrated library systemExperience using Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word

Responsibilities
  • Performing circulation duties, including check-in and check-out, using the SYMPHONY integrated library system.
  • Using the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, to support library acquisitions, collection management, and library administration
  • Labeling and processing physical library material as well as adding copies in the ILS as required.
  • Stack management, including shelving and preparing signs for library collections.
  • Preparing surplus library materials for disposal by creating and circulating lists of surplus library material; sending surplus library material to requesting libraries and any remaining surplus library material for disposal.
  • Preparing library materials for binding by creating and maintaining binding lists of designated library materials; preparing materials for binding; checking quality control when items are received and routing the materials to appropriate departments to ensure cataloguing/processing.
  • Preparing material for digitization; in-house digitization as required.
  • General library support including shelving, retrieving, and processing library mail, photocopying, and mailing out library material
