SUMMIT GM is extremely busy and is NOW HIRING Automotive Technicians with various Certification levels to work in our repair shop in Fort McMurray! Booming from our B2B partnerships, we are looking to expand our team size to keep up with customer demand!

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Licensed Automotive Technician is responsible for testing, diagnosing, and repairing automotive systems that require being fixed. The areas of specialization may include front-end components, 4WD, electrical and electronic systems, diagnostics, alignments, steering, suspension, brake systems, hydraulic systems, fuel and emission systems, ignition system, A/C, cooling and heating systems, drive train components and more. The role must thrive in a fast-paced environment and will review work orders with their supervisors, complete reports to record problems and work performed, and work with advisors and customers to be able to explain the necessary work.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Automotive Service Technician Certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable Driver’s Abstract
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening.
  • 3+ years of experience in an automotive dealership or equivalent high-volume shop environment.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools, scan equipment, and manufacturer software.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing training and professional development.
  • General Motors certification is considered a huge plus

Responsibilities
  • Perform accurate diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a wide range of vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards.
  • Complete warranty repairs as per OEM guidelines, ensuring documentation is thorough and compliant.
  • Execute customer-pay repairs, including general maintenance and mechanical work, with efficiency and quality.
  • Carry out recall work safely and according to manufacturer instructions.
  • Document all work performed and recommended in a clear and professional manner.
  • Adhere to dealership safety standards, processes, and regulations.
  • Stay current with factory training and new technologies.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist and mentor apprentices when needed.
  • Collaborate with service advisors and parts personnel to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned by shop leadership or our OEM partners.
