Description

The Licensed Clinical Supervisor has the overall responsibility for assisting Chicago Police Department personnel in conducting crisis/mental health assessments and linking persons in crisis to community based care. The Licensed clinician will accompany Chicago Police personnel to the homes of persons who have been identified as high utilizers of police services in lieu of seeking appropriate care via mental health and substance use treatment providers. This position is part of a police diversion project with the goal of reducing recidivism for persons with SMI/SUD from arrest and incarceration at Cook County Jail.

Responsibilities
  • Serve an assess that persons with SMI/OUD are linked to appropriate community based treatment
  • Responsible 24/7/365 for ensuring coverage and supervision in situations which require crisis response
  • Responsible for providing all support, services, and treatments necessary to deliver integrated crisis response, crisis stabilization, interventions, and crisis prevention activities to individuals with mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities
  • Ensure operations of the mobile crisis management services program are functioning to meet the standards set forth by the contract and the agency
  • Accompany CPD personnel to the homes of persons who are identified as high utilizers and conduct crisis assessment and linkage
  • Work on collaboration with a team of Mobile Crisis Intervention Specialists to ensure warm hand-off and follow-up for treatment
  • Provide crisis intervention/de-escalation as necessary
  • Make recommendations for treatment and level of care (i.e. outpatient vs. inpatient)
  • Network with other community agencies to ensure effective care in the delivery of services
  • Complete petitions for inpatient treatment as necessary
  • Provide brief counseling utilizing Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive behavioral Therapy as appropriate
  • Build effective relationships with CPD that enable cooperation and collaboration around identified cases
  • Complete reports of service encounters as determined by the Project manager
  • Provide direct clinical services to clients within the WCTWC when not engaged in Mobile Crisis Assessments
  • Work in collaboration with other MCT and WCTWC staff to develop appropriate care plans for consumers
  • Supervise, support, develop and evaluate the MCT Specialist and other MCT personnel while maintaining a strong team of staff trained to provide quality services
  • Facilitate monthly supervision for mobile crisis team or as needed to address crisis responses and interventions

  • Must hold a valid Illinois License as a Social Worker (LCSW) or Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in crisis intervention
  • Demonstrate cultural competence in working with low income disadvantaged populations
  • Demonstrate ability to coordinate treatment and collaborate with multiple providers
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Service oriented, empathetic and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population
  • Must pass mandatory background checks and pre-employment drug screen

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000-$75,000 annually. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.
