Our member is a well-established, privately owned Canadian full-service mechanical contractor that continues to grow year after year. With a strong industry reputation, they strive to deliver outstanding results across a range of mechanical services, including installation and maintenance for Institutional, Commercial, and Industrial (ICI) construction projects, as well as mid-to-high-rise residential developments.
They are seeking a hard-working individual to join their team in Hamilton, ON, as a Licensed Mechanical Journeyperson.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed Journeyperson (Red Seal) in a recognized trade
  • Member in good standing with the relevant trade association
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Proven ability to lead a small project and supervise a crew of approximately 2 personnel
  • Experience with client communication, estimating support, and project documentation
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, building codes, and project coordination practices
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, technical learning, and fostering a positive and safe work environment
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

As a Journeyperson 2 (JP2), you will be recognized as a licensed tradesperson with site-level coordination responsibilities and advanced trade expertise. You will support project execution through safe, efficient, and professional trade work while assisting in site coordination when the Site Supervisor is not present. This includes directing workflow, managing material needs, and overseeing time reporting for a small crew of Apprentices or fellow Journeypersons.
Primary responsibilities include plumbing, pipe fitting, cutting, coring, trenching, measuring, layout, and completion of associated paperwork. You may also be tasked with supporting field operations such as site housekeeping, organizing tools and materials, receiving supplies, and preparing work areas. You will provide guidance to less experienced workers, assist in communication with other trades, and contribute to the safe, timely, and professional delivery of work across various project sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate day-to-day site tasks when the Site Supervisor is unavailable
  • Follow direction from the Site Supervisor and confirm full understanding of project scope
  • Execute trade work to a high standard, ensuring safe and timely delivery
  • Provide technical direction to Apprentices or less experienced Journeypersons as needed
  • Complete paperwork and project documentation accurately and on schedule
  • Assess work requirements and identify appropriate tools, materials, and methods
  • Deliver clear instructions to others using written notes, sketches, or verbal direction
  • Assist with material coordination, deliveries, and organization of job sites
  • Communicate with other trades and clients to support efficient work coordination
  • Identify and address safety concerns, and act to maintain a safe work site
  • Supervise others as directed, in alignment with company and Ministry of Labour standards
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Supervisor
  • Promote and enforce adherence to all company policies, safety standards, OHSA legislation, and ISO quality systems
