My client, a respected local civil consultant, is seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead construction survey projects throughout Salt Lake City. This role involves managing field staff, coordinating with contractors, and contributing to the strategic growth of the survey department. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Utah Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or ability to acquire in 12 months
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction surveying, preferably in urban environments.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency with survey equipment and software (e.g., Trimble, Leica, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee field survey crews for construction staking, layout, and verification.
  • Coordinate directly with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure survey data meets project specifications and deadlines.
  • Manage daily field operations, including scheduling, equipment readiness, and crew assignments.
  • Perform QA/QC on field data and final deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and review survey documentation such as plats, legal descriptions, and as-built reports.
  • Train and mentor junior survey staff, fostering technical growth and leadership development.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve workflows, standards, and survey methodologies.
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposals.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal surveying regulations and safety standards.
