Description
Job Title: Licensed Optometrist Location: Kayenta Health Center – Kayenta Service Unit, Navajo Area Indian Health Service Hours: Mon–Fri, excluding Federal Holidays (Tour of duty set by Supervisor; 40 hrs/week) Key Duties: Provide comprehensive eye care including diagnosis and management of visual and ocular pathologies. Prescribe corrective lenses, vision training, and therapeutic medications (topical and oral). Deliver emergency eye care for trauma and acute conditions. Utilize lab and radiology services to evaluate ophthalmologic conditions. Coordinate eye care with other physicians when systemic disease is present. Refer and coordinate care for patients requiring services outside the Service Unit. Consult with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and medical staff for complex cases. Supervise Eye Clinic personnel and precept optometry students as needed. Qualifications: Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited institution. Current, unrestricted optometry license in any U.S. state (diagnostic & therapeutic privileges required). Active DEA license. Minimum 1 year recent optometry experience. BLS for Healthcare Providers certification. Proficient in EHR/EMR and basic computer skills.
