  • 12-hour shifts
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in acute adult outpatient or inpatient psychiatric unit, background and knowledge of psychiatric and illnesses and treatment.
  • Looking for someone who has patients willing to connect with the patient, adaptability, compassion, emotional intelligence, communication skills

POSITION SUMMARY

The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT), under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), provides safe, efficient, timely, and high-quality care. Under RN supervision, the LPT is responsible for the observation of patient/family needs and provides supportive care and emotional support to the patient/family in times of crisis to maximize patient comfort and enhance quality of life. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate consistent behavior with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.

A. EDUCATION

  • Highschool Diploma required.
  • Successful completion of a California Licensed Psychiatric Technician program. Associates degree preferred.

B. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician in acute adult outpatient or inpatient psychiatric unit, background and knowledge of psychiatric and illnesses and treatment.
  • Must complete annual Workplace Violence Prevention Program/Certificate, per hospital policy, during initial training/orientation but not to exceed 30 days from hire/transfer.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current California State Licensed Psychiatric Technician license.

C. SPECIAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
