JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA) assists in the delivery of patient care as established by the licensed therapist to reach treatment goals through a written treatment plan. The LPTA will be responsible for maintaining patient records. The LPTA maintains good communication with physicians, licensed therapists, nurses, allied health professionals, social workers, discharge planners, and hospital personnel. The LPTA participates in continuous quality improvement and strives to excel in customer service. Employees will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the neonate, infant child, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (LPTA) in the state of Texas
  • Associate Degree from an accredited PTA program
  • A minimum of 1 year experience working in a rehab setting is required
  • Must be able to work 2 shifts per 4 week rotation, 1 major and 1 minor holiday a year

  • Performs and documents all parts of a patient treatment as delegated by the P.T.
  • Reads initial evaluation by the physical therapist and understands the treatment plan for the patient and the goals of each treatment.
  • Identifies changes in patient status and advises a re-evaluation to meet the established goals.
  • Notifies the P.T. that the patient has progressed or regressed and that the treatment program needs to be updated.
  • Act as an assistant to the physical therapist when the P.T. is performing tests, evaluation, or complex treatment procedures
