PEI Atlantic Baptist is a 116 bed not for profit nursing home located in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are currently accepting applications for a Casual Licensed Practical Nurse who provide nursing and medical services to those requiring long-term care.
Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

· Promote healthy living including mental and physical activity, healthy eating and engagement

• Gives personal care to assigned residents
• Performs glucose monitoring on assigned residents and as requested by RN supervisor
• Assesses, monitors and carries wound care
• Does vital signs as assigned or requested by RN supervisor
• Performs admissions as assigned
• Provides catheter care
• Follows Infection Prevention and Control routine practices and additional contact precautions as required
• Obtains specimens as necessary (i.e. swabs, urine, stool, sputum)
• Participates in developing, maintaining and carrying out resident care plans
• Ensures resident independence, safety, dignity and comfort
• Reports to RN Supervisor, any significant responses and changes in resident condition
• Charts any changes and updates in nurses notes
• Assists and supports RCWs and RAs as they carry out their duties

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

· Successful completion of a recognized Practical Nursing Education Program
· Currently Registered with PEI LPN Registration Board
· Currently a Registered Nurse with the Association of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island
· Current CPR certification
· Current Vulnerable Record Check
· Completion of Gentle Persuasions Approach (GPA) Program
· Completion of Transfer Lifting and Repositioning (TLR) Training
· Proven working knowledge of venipuncture, catheter insertion, injections, etc.
· Proven organizational skills, adaptability and capability to manage multiple priorities
· Strong communication skills in addition to the ability to successfully lead, support and empower members of the team
Successful candidates must have an active registration with PEILPNRB, leadership abilities and strong communications skills. The staff must have the ability to promote a positive safe work environment and establish effective working relationships.
