JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our multidisciplinary team. The LPN will provide direct patient care, assist with medical assessments, administer medications for detoxification, and support clients through their treatment plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in addiction and mental health care and strong clinical judgment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current LPN licensure in Alberta
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing, with a focus on addiction or mental health care preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, with the ability to assess and respond to medical needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on client-centered care.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records systems and proper documentation protocols.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare regulations and standards of care.

Responsibilities
  • Client Care: Provide direct nursing care to clients in a compassionate and respectful manner, ensuring their medical and emotional needs are met. Experiencing managing patients undergoing detoxification is an asset.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, monitor for side effects, and educate clients on medication management.
  • Vital Signs Monitoring: Conduct routine assessments of vital signs, monitor severity of symptoms (i.e., use of CIWA and other scales) and overall health status, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, counselors, and administrative staff to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.
  • Health Education: Provide education to clients regarding their treatment plans, including medication, lifestyle changes, and recovery strategies.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Crisis Intervention: Assist in crisis situations, offering immediate medical and emotional support, and escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Health Promotion: Participate in health promotion activities, including group education and outreach, to support client wellness and recovery.
  • Compliance: Ensure all nursing practices are in compliance with healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
