Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes.
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the licensed practical nurse is to work with the Nurse Manager in the provision of medical care to the clients of DPD. The LPN will work within the scope of nursing practice and adhere to the Standards of Care for the Practical Nurse. The LPN will work with all members of the health care team to provide consistent safe nursing care by utilizing therapeutic communication techniques, the nursing process, and sound judgment based on knowledge and nursing skills. The nurse will accept responsibility for personal and professional continuing education and demonstrate accountability in nursing practices. Under the supervision of the registered nurse the licensed practical nurse will ensure effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the client and significant others. The nurse will cooperate with agency’s administration and/or Division and DHS staff in any inspection or investigation.
