UPMC Shadyside is looking to hire a Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurse, OP to support the Benedum Geriatric Center. The mission of the Benedum Geriatric Center is to improve the quality of life of our geriatric population. Our team focuses on prevention, management, and treatment of multiple health issues experienced by older adults. We offer comprehensive assessment of the physical, cognitive, psychological, and social functioning aspects of aging to optimize quality of life and to help older adults remain independent. Schedule: Monday-Friday (5) 8-hour shifts Rotating times - 7:30 am to 4 pm, 8 am to 4:30 pm, and 8:30 am to 5pm Purpose: Provides professional nursing care to office patients under supervision of patient care providers. Responsibilities: Draw blood. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Administer medications including oral, SQ, IM and IV drip. Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments. Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight. Comply with all policies and procedures. Perform IV therapy under direction of Registered Nurse. Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record. Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions. Graduate of an approved LPN school of nursing. One year of clinical experience preferred. Previous geriatric experience preferred Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
