Job Details Job Location: Coalgate, OK 74538 Position Type: Per Diem Job Shift: Any POSITION SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is accountable for providing nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed independent practitioner. The LPN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the needs of the patient. The LPN is to participate in order to deliver efficient, effective and high quality patient care. He/she is expected to adhere to and abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Communicates with off going shift through patient report. Organizes tasks effectively prior to beginning work according to priority of patient needs. Administers medications and/or treatments in an efficient and timely manner. Assesses patient needs and assists RN in the development and revision of a plan of care based on nursing diagnosis and/or patient problems. Ascertains that diagnostic tests have been carried out as ordered. Reviews results of tests and notifies charge nurse and/or physician of abnormal findings. Performs patient/family teaching as needed and/or coordinates patient/family education with other departments as appropriate. Notes physicians orders and initiates treatments, medications, and procedures in a timely manner. Transcribes orders to patient kardex accurately. Communicates orders to other department as required. Documents date, time, signature and title. Clarifies any order which is unclear. Assists with completion of admissions forms. Assists with discharge procedures according to hospital nursing policy by completing discharge instructions in entirety, providing appropriate instruction to patient/family, arranging for follow-up appointments as required, and documenting discharge procedures according to hospital policy. Performs narcotic count with on-coming shift, ascertains accuracy of narcotic count, and remains on duty until discrepancy is resolved or until dismissed by charge nurse/supervisor/administrative personnel. Assures the right medication and right dose is given to the right patient. Performs all other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must obtain State LPN/LVN License
