Description Northwest Eyes, is a progressive ophthalmic medical and surgical practice, we are searching for a Licensed Practical Nurse at our Mount Vernon ASC. Our Company is nationally recognized, with vast clinical experience in a wide variety of eye surgical services, advanced technology, and proven results. Provide BLS training, pay for licensure, and uniforms are provided. Work cooperatively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in all decision-making processes. Provide individualized and specialized nursing care to patients in the ambulatory surgery center in accordance with physician’s orders, recognized nursing standards, legal aspects of current nurse practice within the state, and the center’s policies and procedures. Work cooperatively with physicians and staff, exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in all decision-making processes. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities: Preoperative and postoperative patient calls Patient Admission/Discharge Record and analyze patient medical histories, symptoms, and conditions Administer medications and treatments as ordered by the physician Intraoperative Circulation Comply with procedures, regulations, and rules in maintaining medical records Discuss treatment plans with physicians and pharmacists Maintain knowledge of various instruments used for each type of operation and the proper setup of the operating room Maintain current knowledge of the fundamentals of asepsis, instrument processing, and sterilization Complete the required continuing education Follow all compliance policies and procedures, including HIPAA, OSHA, WISHA, patient confidentiality, and insurance requirements Function under the direction of all policies, regulations, and procedures of Sight Partners Monitor patient vital signs in the operating room Master facility skill competencies that may include: Documentation Hand Washing INR Testing Patient Discharge / Wheelchair Discharge Patient Positioning Medication Administration Injection Safety Blood Glucose / Glucometer Controlled Substance Count Procedure Medication Labeling IV Insertion and Removal Time Out Aseptic Technique / Sterile Field Environmental Cleaning Laser Safety Equipment Operation Surgical Site Preparation YAG PI / YAG Laser Medication administration: Oral, IV, IM, SQ & eyedrops Requirements Current BLS/AED certification is mandatory One (1) year of operating room and ASC experience preferred Knowledge of sterile technique as it applies to the operating room and surgical procedures Knowledge of ophthalmic procedures to be able to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and the safe positioning of patients for those procedures The proper method of handling instruments, tissue specimens, cultures, and smears before, during, and after use Demonstrate excellence in communication skills, demonstrated by the ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing Exhibit initiative and the ability to work independently or lead and perform as part of a larger team in a fast-paced environment Education and Experience: Graduate of a college or university and/or an accredited school of nursing Holds a current license from the State Board of Nursing to practice as a licensed practical nurse Scope of Practice References: NCQAC AO - Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse Scope of Practice and related practice information issued by the NCQAC or DOH, as updated from time to time NCQAC - Licensed Practical Nurse and Medical Assistant Scope of Practice Comparison and related practice information issued by the NCQAC or DOH, as updated from time to time Benefits: Competitive Salary $33.00 - $38.00 Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Robust Ancillary Benefits 401(k) Plan with employer contribution Company Paid Life Insurance Generous PTO/Holiday EEO Statement
