Responsibilities The Licensed Vocational Nurse at the Wharton Campus is under the direct/indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse and is responsible for the professional nursing care and related assistance to patients on an assigned unit. Performs direct patient care within the scope of the Licensed Vocational Practice Act and in the assigned Critical Care area to established procedures. Performs Point of Care laboratory testing. Projects an image of a level-headed professional that is constantly striving to increase their knowledge to better the care for the patient. Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATON: Graduate of an accredited licensed vocational nursing program. MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE: One year clinical nursing or related experience preferred. REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current licensure in Texas as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Certified in Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association and Advance Cardiac Life Support required within 6 months of employment. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Critical thinking skills, excellent communication skills, and computer proficiency required. Successful completion of an EKG competency assessment test.
