Day - 08 Hour (United States of America) Job Summary The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) assists providing basic medical care to patients in a clinical setting. Working under the guidance of a registered nurse and/or physician the LVN helps perform the basic steps of the nursing process. Essential Functions The essential functions listed below are general examples and not a description of comprehensive duties. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department or program needs without changing nature or scope of this position or level of responsibility. May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. Obtains and records vital signs, height and weight, vision and hearing testing, and patient history Performs basic patient screening and documents accordingly. Escalates findings to RN and/or Physician as appropriate. Prepares patients for exams as necessary. Sets up table, instruments and supplies required for specific procedures ensuring appropriate instruments, scopes and supplies are accurately set up Follows aseptic techniques when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures. Discards any contaminated supplies according to written procedure Coordinates patient care activities with other nurses and physicians as applicable Under the guidance of provider’s orders, administers medications (except I.V), immunizations and draws blood. Explains test, procedures and disease process to patient/family and follows through with teaching developed by the RN or physician. Keeps inventory stocked and orders supplies, narcotics and medication. Partnering with RN and/or physician evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions, revises patient care plan based on evaluation and RN and/or physician’s direction. Attends meetings and serves on departmental and/or hospital committees as assigned Assists with departmental reporting, quality Restocks room as required Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions Job Qualifications Education High school graduate or equivalent Completion of an accredited LVN program College level education desirable Experience One year of acute care experience License/ Certifications Current LVN License Current American Heart Association BLS Certification IV/Blood Draw Certification Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of quality, safety and joint commission requirements as it relates to job Maintains professional responsibility to enhance personal growth Knowledge of medical terminology Good communication skills with the ability to read, write and understand the English language Ability to work as a valued team member Problem identification and resolution skills Outstanding customer service skills Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills Organized with strong attention to detail. Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, staff members and physicians Knowledgeable about current practice and compliance requirements within job role and specialty. Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $38.12 - $49.45 per hour The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
