Description The Licensing & Compliance Analyst will serve as a critical team member within our Legal Department. She/He will be responsible for providing licensing support to the Trean Insurance Group and its subsidiaries (“Company”) and ensuring that all professional licenses are obtained and kept in good standing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: · Applications & Renewals. Prepare and submit initial applications and renewals for insurance licensing and corporate entity registrations (e.g. certificates of authority; Secretary of State filings; and broker, adjuster, reinsurance intermediary, managing general agent, and third-party administrator licenses) in compliance with applicable law, regulations, and company policies. · Annual Reporting. Prepare and submit recurring deliverables and the compliance aspects of tax forms, where appropriate. · Liaison. Cultivate strong relationships and effective communication channels with all relevant parties. Timely review and respond to inquiries and other correspondence from regulatory bodies, external vendors, and internal stakeholders, providing supporting documentation, accurate information, and relevant resources, as applicable. Escalate issues to management to achieve prompt intervention and/or resolution, as necessary. · Documentation. Maintain up-to-date information, both internally recorded and externally reported with regulatory bodies, regarding officers and directors, contact information, and all other information associated with licensing. Update internal tracking systems accurately and timely with detailed documentation of the task completion. Maintain matrix and other summaries of Company licensing data. · Payments. Timely request and report payments to vendors and regulators using accurate coding. Aid with the financial reporting of licensing-related costs. · Legal Analysis & Application. Assist in the analysis of various statutes and regulations relating to insurance and corporate compliance. Regularly review industry-related rules and regulations and make recommendations to management, as necessary. · Other. Perform other duties and assignments as requested, including working on relevant strategic initiatives and coordinating licensing and compliance solutions to achieve team, department, and Company goals. Requirements MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the insurance, accounting, or compliance industry, preferably specifically in licensing matters. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of insurance laws and regulations and basic accounting principles. Competency in computer-processing skills, with proficiency with MS Outlook and Excel required. Experience with Salesforce, Concur, and PowerBI is preferred. Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks efficiently and accurately to effectively manage competing deadlines independently in a confidential, fast-paced environment. Ability to present to internal and external parties in a pleasant, professional manner and enhance the appeal and reputation of the Company as a knowledgeable and service-oriented organization. Attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to thoroughness, timeliness, and accuracy. Strong research, analytical, and reasoning abilities. Ability to define problems, collect and analyze information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend timely, logical solutions/decisions.
