Job Details Job Location: LOS ANGELES, CA 90025 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $25.00 - $35.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Day Job Category: Legal Lien Negotiator Based in Los Angeles, BD&J is California’s leading personal injury law firm, with over $2 billion recovered for our clients, and we are currently seeking a skilled and persistent Lien Negotiator to join the team. This role is crucial in ensuring that client settlements are maximized by successfully negotiating down medical liens and other financial obligations related to resolved cases. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable with high-volume work, and a strong communicator who can build rapport with medical providers, insurance companies, and lienholders. This is a full-time, onsite position based in our Los Angeles office. Responsibilities include: • Review case files and gather all lien-related documentation • Contact healthcare providers, insurance companies, and government agencies to negotiate reductions on outstanding liens • Accurately document all negotiations and communications in the firm’s case management system • Draft settlement disbursement summaries reflecting final lien amounts and client net proceeds • Monitor deadlines and follow up diligently to ensure timely resolution of liens • Understand and apply applicable regulations, including Medi-Cal, Medicare, ERISA, and hospital lien laws • Identify unreasonable charges and challenge them appropriately using medical records and case facts • Communicate with clients when necessary to explain lien resolutions and net amounts Qualifications: • 2+ years of experience negotiating medical liens in a personal injury legal setting • Familiarity with common lien types (Medi-Cal, Medicare, hospital liens, private insurance, ERISA) • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • Ability to manage a high caseload and prioritize effectively • Experience with legal case management systems and Microsoft Office • Bilingual in English and Spanish is strongly preferred • Knowledge of medical billing and records is a plus We offer an excellent compensation package including: • Guaranteed Competitive pay plan • Proficiency/performance bonus • 401K • 80 hours of vacation the first year of employment • Paid Holidays • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • Supplemental insurance • Opportunity for advancement At BD&J, we have a clear vision: to be the place where a diverse mix of talented people want to come, stay, and do their best work.
