LIFE ENRICHMENT COORDINATOR (12–18 MONTH CONTRACT)

Moira Place Long-Term Care Home is seeking a compassionate and energetic Life Enrichment Coordinator (LEC) to join our team on a 12–18 month contract. This is a rewarding opportunity to bring creativity, leadership, and dedication to enhancing the quality of life for our residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma/degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Knowledge/education in gerontology and dementia care programming preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in a long-term care setting or working with older adults (experience with dementia care is an asset).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience coordinating staff, volunteers, or students is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with computers (Microsoft Office and related programs).
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Resident and Family Services, the Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading recreational and social programs that support residents’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing monthly activity calendars, newsletters, outings, and special events.
  • Developing individualized activity plans, including specialized dementia programming and one-to-one activities.
  • Supervising, coaching, and supporting Life Enrichment staff, students, and volunteers.
  • Collaborating with community partners and helping facilitate Residents’ Council.
  • Ensuring programs follow Adult Montessori Principles, Restorative Care concepts, and best practices in long-term care.
  • Supporting health and safety standards to create a safe and engaging environment.
