JOB SUMMARY:

The Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating resident-focused recreation and life enrichment programs that promote quality of life in a long-term care setting. The role provides leadership to staff and volunteers, ensures compliance with legislative requirements, and supports a holistic approach to resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Kinesiology, Humanities, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working with seniors in long-term care, hospital, or community settings.
  • Registration with or eligibility for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire staff, volunteers, and residents.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (MS Office, PCC, ActivityPro) and virtual programming tools (Zoom, Skype, FaceTime).
  • Understanding of Ukrainian language and culture an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of recreation and life enrichment programs, including group activities, one-to-one interventions, community outings, and special events
  • Complete and maintain timely, individualized resident assessments and care plans.
  • Document participation and progress in accordance with established standards (MDS, PCC, ActivityPro).
  • Coordinate, recruit, orient, and evaluate volunteers; foster strong relationships between volunteers, staff, and residents.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and the community to encourage participation in programs.
  • Supervise and support recreation staff and coordinate volunteer involvement.
  • Facilitate Residents’ Council and ensure communication of programs to residents, families, staff, and the community.
