SUMMARY

The Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre is seeking a dedicated Life Enrichment Coordinator to join our Recreation team. This role is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating programs and services that enhance residents’ quality of life through a holistic approach to care. The Coordinator provides leadership to recreation staff and volunteers, ensures compliance with legislative requirements, and fosters an inclusive, culturally sensitive environment where residents can thrive.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Kinesiology, Humanities, or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience working with seniors in long-term care, hospital, or community settings.
  • Registration with or eligibility for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) preferred.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to inspire staff, volunteers, and residents.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, PCC, ActivityPro, and virtual programming tools (Zoom, Skype, FaceTime).
  • Understanding of Ukrainian language and culture is a strong asset.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate recreation and life enrichment programs, including group activities, one-to-one interventions, community outings, and cultural events.
  • Complete resident assessments, care plans, and documentation in accordance with established standards (MDS, PCC, ActivityPro).
  • Supervise recreation staff and coordinate, recruit, and support volunteers.
  • Facilitate Residents’ Council and promote resident and family engagement.
  • Encourage participation by integrating Ukrainian cultural traditions, language, and community connections.
