Bethesda  Life Enrichment Lead  Sunrise Village   Job Summary:  Work directly with tenants providing acceptance, friendliness, and compassion. Activity programs are based on the tenant’s interests, strengths, and needs; in an atmosphere of warmth, success, encouragement and job.  Job Relationships:  Reports to: Housing Manager Interrelationships with:  Housing Manager  External Contacts: Visitors, Families, Volunteers, Other outside Activity sources for programs Hours of Work: As scheduled.  Dress Code: Street clothing appropriate in a business environment Essential Requirements of Work: Minimum qualifications necessary. 1. Education and Training 1. High school diploma or equivalent 2. Basic activity course (a willingness to take this course) 2. Experience: Previous work with the elderly is desirable. 3. Personal:   1. Attend all on-going activity training 2. Good physical and mental health 3. Ability to maintain outgoing, cheerful, enthusiastic personality 4. Have efficient time management skills 5. Effective communication skills 6. Ability to work with others in close proximity 7. Self-motivated, work independently 8. Ability to contribute to a friendly, homelike atmosphere 4. Job knowledge: 1. Meeting physical, emotional, intellectual community and social well-being needs Principal Job Responsibilities:  1. Provide personal contact with tenants allowing them to feel successful; that their life has a purpose and to continue to pursue their interests and use their remaining abilities.  Tasks:  1. To provide one to one visits; inviting tenants to activities in a way that make them feel welcome 2. Creating and maintaining a warm, loving environment 3. Use age and mind appropriate interaction in activities 4. Use good listening skills 5. Explain activities to tenants in a way that encourages involvement, respects their rights and gives choices whenever possible 6. Planning, preparing and facilitating activities that meet the tenants mental, physical, emotional, social and community needs. Tasks:         1. Offer activities which are a variety and meet different levels of ability 2. Work with the HD in the planning and development of these programs, ever looking for new and improved ways of doing things.  3. Perform miscellaneous functions that emerge on a daily basis with kindness, willingness, and spontaneity. Tasks:  1. Order food and supplies for the department 2. Arrange transportation, or assist on outings 3. Prepare food for activities and clean area when completed 4. Photograph events, sharing interesting events for the Beacon 5. Responsible for monthly newsletter and calendar planning 6. Perform computer work as required 7. Help enhance the environment through seasonal and monthly decoration along with the HD  8. Have an outgoing inventory of activity supplies 9. Serve as an example of excellence in meeting work requirements Tasks: 1. Report for and leave work on a timely basis, completing tasks as scheduled  2. Attend in-services and all necessary training 3. Participate in annual performance evaluation process 4. Maintain a professional conduct and pleasant, friendly attitude towards staff, tenants and visitors 5. Responsibilities
The lead will provide personal contact with tenants, fostering an environment where they feel successful and can pursue their interests, which includes planning, preparing, and facilitating diverse activities meeting tenants' mental, physical, emotional, social, and community needs. Responsibilities also involve administrative tasks like ordering supplies, arranging transportation for outings, preparing newsletters, and maintaining a positive, professional presence.
