JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

Responsible for understanding, interpreting, developing, and implementing Life Safety, Fire Safety and Environment of Care regulations (EOC), guidelines, and best practices consistent with hospital objectives and requirements of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies; licensing agencies; accrediting and certifying organizations; and professional standards across the Hospital and its associated ambulatory properties.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure compliance with EOC regulatory, accreditation standards, and safety regulations. Plans, organize, and manage the Life Safety program, Fire protection function and EOC throughout the Hospital. Maintaining a constant state of readiness.
  • Documentation of compliance in all areas as well as ensuring training and competencies are in place as needed for employed and contracted parties.
  • Ensure compliance with all Life Safety and Fire regulatory and accreditation standards. Ensures quality control procedures are executed to monitor all aspects of regulations.
  • Coordinates audits of health and safety programs within the Hospital to ensure environment, health and safety compliance.
  • Coordinates and participates in fire and life safety and general safety related investigations, complaints and/or problems; including building code compliance inspections and policy enforcement.
  • Researches and reviews federal, state, and local regulatory rules, standards, and guidelines.
  • Provides technical assistance to fire alarm and fire suppression designers, contractors, architects, and engineers regarding fire and life safety issues.
  • Provides leadership for activities that promote compliance with federal, state and local agency safety regulations.
  • Directs grounds maintenance and employees.
  • Provides leadership in hospital space allocation planning.

About this position: This position will support 2 facilities in Mission Health System: Mission Hospital McDowell in Marion, NC and Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, NC. The person who accepts this position will be expected to float between facilities as needed but either facility could be used as the primary location.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED:

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience ten (10) years related experience in healthcare management.
  • Required License: Must have a valid NC driver’s license or procure one within 30 days of employment unless an out-of-state commuter, at least two years of satisfactory driving experience and be at least 18 years of age to meet the Mission Health established insurance guidelines
  • Required Experience: 1 year
  • Preferred License: CHFM Certification, Extensive Knowledge of NFPA 101 and 99
  • Preferred Experience: Experience with state, federal and Joint Commission standards and regulations. Familiarity with OSHA requirements. Previous experience in healthcare facility services a plus.
