JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Life Safety System Specialist who will be responsible for DFW Airport’s Life Safety Systems. The specialist will coordinate the planning, expansion, and operation of the DFW Central Fire and Public Address/Voice Evacuation (PA/VE) System.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE (3+ YEARS):

  • Hands-on experience managing and supporting large-scale PA/VE systems.
  • Experience providing Fire Alarm and Emergency Communication systems support.
  • Experience with, and strong working knowledge of, NFPA 72 and related life safety codes.
  • Experience with fire alarm system design, review, and acceptance testing.
  • Experience with, and knowledge of, the principles and practices of fire alarm and Emergency Communication.
  • Emergency Communication Systems design and implementation, including hardware, software, communications standards, and documentation.
  • Experience with and knowledge of National Fire Prevention Association codes and standards.
  • Experience with and knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration.
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside the organization.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Computer Aided Design and drafting experience.
  • Experience in Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems.
  • Experience using IED GLOBALCOMM system.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATION AND EDUCATION:

  • National Institute Certification of Engineering Technician III
  • Innovative Electronic Design (IED) GlobalCom Audio Systems Factory Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science or related field.

Responsibilities
  • Consult in the planning and design of fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems in new construction and facility alteration projects with internal engineers and fire prevention specialists, and outside consultants, architects, and engineering firms.
  • Develop specifications for fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems in support of DFW Airport projects.
  • Review plans and specifications for all fire alarm and Emergency Communication system projects, in Code Enforcement.
  • Participate in project meetings for work implemented by other Airport departments.
  • Conduct final acceptance tests and field inspections in support of the Bureau of Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement.
  • Program the DFW Central Fire and PA/VE System.
  • Document system changes to the Central Fire alarm and PA/VE system.
  • Respond to inquiries from Airport staff, tenants, airline management and contractors to provide solutions to fire alarm and Emergency Communication systems problems.
