About this Position
We are looking for a Junior Life Underwriter to join our Underwriting Department.
Responsibilities and Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the insurance industry,
  • Strong technical and analytical underwriting skills
  • Demonstrate flexibility and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work as required
  • Knowledge of Industry trends and practices
  • Bilingual communications (French) would be a definite asset
  • Post secondary education, as well as LOMA or ALU course would be a definite asset
  • Underwriting experience would be a definite asset

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite individual life insurance applications on an on-line system and will be responsible for risk appraisal and decisions
  • Communicate with agents, doctors, MIB and paramedical companies
  • Communicate and research as necessary with company re-insurer
  • Act as a resource for the Customer Service Department on Underwriting-related matters
  • Provide exemplary customer service to Field Representatives
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
