Responsibilities
  • Is responsible for the safety of guests and employees that are inside the designated swimming areas (beach/pool) during the posted business hours.
  • Must be a certified Life Guard of any of the world Life Guard Associations with other skills and of active status.
  • Artificial Resuscitation (mouth-to-mouth).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Knowledge of using AED machine.
  • Must be able to swim 400 m in 8 minutes to be align with international and Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental hotel standards.
  • Is responsible for the safety set-up at the beach/pool which includes:
  • Sets up of the lifesaving floatation devices at the pool & beach.
  • Corrects flag (colors) must be put up during business hours and during non-business hours.
  • Rescues Surfboard/kayak ready on the shoreline.
  • First Aid Kit at the beach/pool chair/post.
  • Supervises swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Should carry both Emergency radio and operation radios.
  • Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces the pool regulations and water safety policies.
  • Resolves scheduling conflicts to ensure safe pool and beach environment when competing programs/priorities require use of aquatic facilities.

  • Is responsible for keeping the designated and marked swimming areas free of any engine driven boat or alike, windsurfers, sea bikes or SUP & Kayak.
  • Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in the distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and / or artificial respiration, if necessary
  • Evaluates conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as required.
  • Inspects pool and beach facilities, equipment and water to ensure that they are sage and usable.
  • Supervises and assists in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment, assist with chlorine residual water tests and with records and charts of water tests and records of accidents, and adds chemicals to pool water as directed.
  • Is responsible for keeping swimmers / snorkelers out of boat tracks or any other hazardous area.
  • Is responsible for responding to any emergency within the hotel / resort swimming area / pool area.
  • Is responsible for ensuring that all None Water Sports activities or Pool Activities are executed according to the Security Rules.
  • Is responsible for a temporary replacement while going to the bathroom and for lunch or breaks etc.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve overall objectives of this position.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Rules & Regulations established in the Employees Handbook and the Hotel’s policy on Fire, Hygiene, Health & Safety.
  • Ensures that all potential and real hazards are reported and rectified immediately.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to the Hotel’s Employee rules & regulations.
  • Reports for duty punctually wearing the correct uniform and nametag at all times.
