What are the essential tasks? A lifeguard maintains constant surveillance of members of AVAC; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of members in the event of an emergency. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Handling pool chemicals and keeping a clean pool deck daily. It is required to be well versed in AVAC policies and to demonstrate excellent communication with fellow staff and supervisors. Excelling at these things is what creates the standard AVAC sets in customer care and quality of service.     What we want: We are looking for enthusiastic and awesome people that want to become part of the AVAC culture. This can be a summer job between school years, or a year round employment with many different possibilities of upward mobility. This position does require weekend and evening availability, and can range from part time to a full time position.  * Availability:  We’re building a team of about 30 guards, and priority will go to staff who want hours. * This is a part-time job with potential for year-round employment * We are looking for weekends specifically for the month of September * There's potential for more hours from September to March   AVAC for many has become a second home. With employment you become a member of the facilities and have a wealth of different activities available to you. The facility is fully equipped with a state of the art gym, brand new fitness studio, championship tennis/ pickle ball courts, and of course both indoor and outdoor pools.  Required skills:  Must have an up to date First Aid, CPR, AED, and Lifeguard certification * If not yet obtained, AVAC is offering 3 trainings this season, www.avac.us/redcross [http://www.avac.us/redcross]  * Ability to lift up to 40 pounds * Capable of passing the lifeguard skill test * Positive attitude and team player These are the hours we operate during peak summer time. Shifts are normally between 4.5-6.5 hours long within these times. -Monday-Friday 10:30am-10pm -Saturday and Sunday 10:30am-8pm
Responsibilities
The lifeguard must maintain constant surveillance of members and act immediately and appropriately to secure safety during emergencies, providing necessary care until medical services arrive. Essential tasks also include handling pool chemicals and ensuring the pool deck is kept clean daily.
