Description Are you passionate about water safety and helping others? The Greater Burlington YMCA is seeking Lifeguards to provide a safe and welcoming aquatic environment for all members. As a Lifeguard, you’ll play a critical role in preventing accidents, ensuring safety, and responding to emergencies on the pool deck. Schedule and Location: 298 College St, Burlington, VT, 05401 We are currently looking for lifeguards who have availability weekday mornings from 4:45am - 9:00am. Enforce safety policies and respond swiftly to emergencies. Perform rescues, first aid, and CPR as needed. Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks. Engage with members, providing a welcoming and helpful presence. Attend trainings and maintain certification to stay rescue ready. Requirements What We’re Looking For: Must be at least 15 years old (subject to state and local restrictions). Current Lifeguard Certification. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to stay alert, respond quickly, and perform water rescues. Work Environment & Physical Demands: Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard. Ability to stand, walk, swim, and perform rescues as needed. Remain alert and attentive at all times. Hear, see, and communicate clearly in a pool environment. Lift and move up to 50 lbs. as necessary.
Responsibilities
The Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring pool areas to ensure a safe environment and responding swiftly to emergencies. They also perform routine maintenance, safety checks, and engage with members to provide a welcoming presence.
