SUMMARY: The primary role of the Lifeguard is to ensure the safety of visitors in and around designated aquatic areas at Half Moon Cay. The Lifeguard is responsible for explaining and enforcing safety rules, monitoring patrons for unsafe situations, and responding swiftly to emergencies. This includes assessing potential risks, making quick decisions to safeguard swimmers, and performing rescue and first aid procedures as needed. The position works as part of a team of lifeguards and reports to a designated supervisor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safety Monitoring & Enforcement Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in swim areas. Enforce all safety procedures, guidelines, and policies. Warn patrons of unsafe activities and ensure compliance with water safety regulations. Act professionally at all times to promote a safe environment. Emergency Response & First Aid Perform rescues for swimmers in danger or distress Administer First Aid, CPR, artificial respiration, and emergency care when required. Participate in required skills training (CPR, First Aid Rescue, EMS) and maintain certifications. Report all incidents, injuries, hazards, and unsafe behaviors to the Lifeguard Supervisor. Equipment & Facility Maintenance: Inspect all beach/pool equipment, facilities, and water to ensure safety and usability. Support cleaning and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and work areas Set up and return lifeguarding equipment daily. Uphold environmental policies and maintain housekeeping standards. Training, Meetings & Additional Duties Attend required meetings and ongoing training sessions. Participate in in-house service training to maintain rescue skills. Assist with opening and closing swim areas daily as scheduled. Perform other duties as assigned by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Ability to adhere to the company’s standards regarding dress and appearance. Ability to maintain confidentiality and data protection standards when handling vendor financial or business documents Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment as necessary. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools. Detail orientated with a proactive approach to problem solving. Ability to multi-task and think critically. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong planning and coordination skills, especially in handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Must be physically fit. Ability to work in an outdoor environment as needed. May need to stand for long periods of time. May be requested to work a shift schedule while at any of the destinations. QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED and Guest facing customer service experience Ability to pass a pre-employment practical water skills test. Comfortable and proficient in swimming in all water conditions. Ability to evaluate and assess the dynamics of participants in aquatic activities to identify strengths, weaknesses, and potential safety risks. In-depth knowledge of safety policies, on-site protocols, and operational procedures. Knowledge of techniques and methods for providing medical services in emergencies. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and varying shifts as required. Ability to stand and work outdoors for prolonged periods. Capable of lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds Physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills, with full range of motion in arms and legs, and full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities to give and receive instructions.
